Happy New Year

We continue to celebrate literacy and the love of learning with Book Trust in the Lake Pend Oreille School District. We are half way through this school year and beginning to plan for what the next will bring us all. We are thankful for the continued support of our community and look forward to sharing with you all in the coming year. We currently serve 1,100 students from Kindergarten to Third Grade every year and love to hear how much the program has enriched the lives of the students, their teachers, and their families.IMG_8484

Anti Human Trafficking Rest Stop Signs

We have been working with SPARC, another Sandpoint non-profit, to pass legislation that ends human trafficking. In 2014 we wrote and had passed an Idaho state bill that requires the National Human Trafficking Hotline Number, as well as information on how to find help, is posted in every rest stop in the state of Idaho. We are now in the final stages of this project– getting the signs made and installed. It falls on us to finance the creation, and maintenance, of these signs. Once we have them made they will be installed by Idaho Transportation Department.

In the state of Washington, where similar signs have already been installed, calls to the National Human Trafficking Hotline from Washington Sate went up by 80%. That’s 80% more people who were able to get information and help.
